Institut de Français, UBC à Québec
The Institut de Français,UBC à Québec, a three-week French immersion program designed for French-as-a-Second Language (FSL) and French Immersion teachers is offered by the Faculty of Education at UBC. Non-teachers are also welcome. This residential program is held in a private college situated in the historic, park-like setting of les Plaines d’Abraham in the heart of Quebec City.
Language classes are offered at all levels, from absolute beginner to advanced. Course content is geared to the needs of teachers in the school system, from pre-school to grade 12. Emphasis is on oral communication. Instructors use the communicative approach and present aspects of the culture of Quebec.
Bursaries are funded by the Department of Canadian Heritage of the Government of Canada. For BC teachers, bursaries are administered by the Faculty of Education at UBC on behalf of the French Programs Unit of the BC Ministry of Education. Teachers in Canada should contact the Ministry of Education of their province or territory for information regarding funding.
