UBC Extended Learning
UBC Extended Learning has been at the forefront of teaching non-credit French programs since 1975. French instructors, native to Quebec or France, teach all levels of conversation using role-playing and discussions of contemporary issues. Our lively programs of interactive learning make studying French an enjoyable experience as students are immersed in the cultures of French-speaking regions, and prepare to meet the challenge of real communication with French-speaking people.
French courses are available for part-time study in the daytime, evening and weekends throughout the year at both the UBC Point Grey main campus and downtown at UBC Robson Square. Full-time summer immersion programs are offered in July.
The UBC Certificate in French Language and Culture helps participants prepare for study, travel or business in the French-speaking world. The 150-hour program consists of five progressive levels of French language courses, a personalized module completed at UBC or abroad, and a final project.
The UBC Award of Achievement in French enhances your knowledge of francophone cultures, prepares you for travel or increases your career opportunities. The UBC Award of Achievement in French is a part-time program either 100% online or in a combination of in-class and online that offers you the opportunity to improve your skills in one of Canada’s official languages.
